  • Why we love the founders – John Ahrens, Bev See & Rob Weeks came to our Ocean MBA with a unique story on why alt protein fish couldn’t get off the ground, and a solution from the cardiovascular space for it. They complement each other perfectly and together are driven to make an impact. 
  • What’s novel about Reel’s tech – Reel is laser focused on achieving real texture with a new, natural and reproducible approach unlike any we’ve seen. 
  • Why we’re excited about this market – We know that the tragedy of the commons will degrade fisheries that cannot be managed or that are cross-national. Cell-based seafood can reproduce the original, without much of the complexities of terrestrial animals. 
  • How impactful Reel could be – Replacing some of our largest, most charismatic, keystone fisheries with Reel Foods could help keep our ocean food chains in-tact, protect biodiversity, reduce human rights violations, and avoid GHG emissions.
